I've just returned from a major factfinding trip around Central America and the West Coast. The coastline of Nicaragua, Guatamala and Costa Rica is breathtaking; looking at the volcanic scenery, mixing with the indigenous people in all those areas and viewing a way of life unchanged for so long. These people are so charming, friendly and welcoming; such a relaxing and colourful trip with so much to explore. If you have a sense of adventure and love to explore, this area of the world is well worth considering.
Why not combine it with some more relaxing time down the coast a little into Mexico and the beautiful surroundings of Cabo San Lucas? Stunning vistas, luxurious hotels (especially Las Ventanas), delicious food, fabulous weather and a lively Mexican vibe – really romantic and relaxing. On then to Los Angeles, City of Just-About-Everything. Why is it that the same major designer shops that we have in London just look so much more attractive on Rodeo Drive. It must be a combination of having so much space, the highest level of customer service and the need for constant glamour!! Whilst shopping is a plenty throughout the city, there is so much more to indulge in. For the serious car lovers the Petersen Automative Museum is an absolute must. Of course art lovers must not miss the amazing Getty Museum and the new Broad Museum for incredible contemporary art. A guided tour around followed by a world class performance at the Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Music Hall is an incredible experience, and go to the Griffith Observatory (featured so much in the movie La La Land) at night for the most breathtaking view of all LA lit up.
Then dining in any one of a huge variety of wonderful restaurants in the Hollywood Hills and beyond makes for an unforgettable trip. Do go out to Santa Monica and dine at the super stylish ‘Shutters on the Beach’ or even stay there – right on the Ocean with spectacular views and a walkway to take you miles along the beach plus so many fun and quirky places to visit around town – a combination of pure relaxation and sightseeing.
Quite a start to the New Year and plenty more to see in 2017.
Beautiful Cabo San Lucas and the fabulous Rodeo Drive
